I like starting with vague, basic ideas and building out worlds and plots as necessary. Most of my experience is in "modern/urban fantasy" but I also like "vague high fantasy" and historical (to varying degrees of Accuracy™) settings. My experience is that planning too much at the beginning does not lead to posting, but maybe you're different, I don't know. I love good banter.
My weird quirky behavior is that I like to make up new characters for every RP. I have a pool of "shelved" roleplay OCs I'd like to get some more miles on, but for the most part, the characters I RP are not from my pool of "personal" OCs. The main drawback is that I feel like it takes longer for me to get into character, but I feel it gives me more flexibility on matching my approach to your particular vibe. I'm just built different (personality disorder).
